I get how this could be a frightful sight if my “little” 33lb bundle of joy was running toward you, head down, with this expression, ready to jump on top of you and take you down…
…and that’s what he’s been doing at daycare recently.
It’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted an update. Since then, a lot has happened. We live in Wilmette, Illinois now, in the North Shore of Chicagoland. I’m now the associate pastor at Winnetka Presbyterian Church, and Caleb is 20 months old. He’s adjusted pretty well with the whole transition, and is now part of a great daycare program where he hangs out from 8am-1pm Monday-Friday.
Last week, Sarah went to pick him up and the teacher politely asked, “So…has Caleb been wrestling at home with daddy?”
Of course we wondered why she was asking this, but he has taken to doing a little bit of wrestling with kids at daycare, whether they’re willing participants or not.
But it’s not just aggressive behavior like that, he’s also taken to trying to kiss girls at daycare. Apparently one day he tried to kiss a girl, she rebuffed him, and then he went to another girl on a couch and laid on top her. Then the girl who had rebuffed Caleb’s advances got a little jealous and came over to try and win him back…
But back to the wrestling. So, he’s been getting a little aggressive. When I picked him up last week, his teacher, very kindly, let me know how he was doing this. Apparently, he would go up to little kids and headbutt them to the ground, and then jumps on top of them. Strangely, now all of the kids enjoy this type of love and affection from Caleb, so it’s been a little bit of an issue.
A couple days ago, he got another kid in a kind of headlock, while trying to pull them down to the ground.
So, that’s what’s going on with Caleb recently. Other than that, he continues to grow, eat a ton, be especially cute, interacts great with kids at our new church (and there are a lot of them!), loves cars and Cars, and is becoming a pro at throwing tantrums. Dude. You’re not even 2 yet. What’s up with that?
Anyway – I’m going to try to post some more updates about Caleb…it’s been too long. And until then, I’ll leave you with a cute family photo, and another amazingly cute photo of Caleb that my mother in law took…
