Wow.
Yesterday we went to Babies”R”Us and started our journey into the baby registry world. I knew we’d be overwhelmed, and we were. But thankfully we’ve received some really helpful emails from close friends about the stuff they loved, and Sarah is amazing at reading Amazon.com reviews and finding out all the details.
We have a shower coming up in New York that Sarah’s mom is organizing, and then after that, we’ll probably share the registry lists with you all here, in case any of you see something that’s just SO CUTE you couldn’t help but get it for us.
I think we did a pretty good job of not getting EVERYTHING that all the lists suggest, but it still feels like a lot of stuff for a baby. I’d ask you for your best advice regarding baby registries, but…it’s already a done deal. So, thanks for your thoughts but we’re not going back through our registry now! Unless it’s a really good suggestion.
This is all beginning to feel like more and more of a reality…which is exciting…and terrifying. I realize how little I know about babies, how to care for them…even how to change a diaper! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that’s right: I’ve never changed a diaper in my 31 years of existence. But I know I’ll get pretty damn good at it once this little boy comes…

Adam –
the one gift we find ourselves continually recommending or buying for first babies is The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD.
Don’t waste your time on the book. Buy the DVD. Watch it and give it a try. It not only helped us to learn how to help our kids stop crying, but we would do it before bed and they would be more relaxed when falling asleep and would sleep longer.
Good luck!
